Turkey’s first Solar Power Plant owned by an irrigation cooperative will be commissioned by DAL Electric Solar (a subsidiary of DAL Holding) in May.
A thousand-member cooperative “S.S. Yeşilçiftlik Agricultural Irrigation Cooperative” in Afyonkarahisar, developed a 1 MW Solar Power Plant (SPP) supported by Agricultural and Rural Development Support Institution (TKDK) and TurSEFF (a facility of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development). The Cooperative chose DAL Electric Solar as technology provider and contractor for the Project. The Project’s financing solution was engineered in cooperation with DAL Holding, TurSEFF and İş Bankası. It is the first ever made model in this field and is expected to be an inspirational example for prospective energy cooperative investments in Turkey. The Project will not only boost rural development; but also do it in a greener way, which will support a more sustainable economy. The Cooperative’s need for electricity for irrigation will able to be provided by the solar plant, creating a significant economic benefit for the cooperative members.
